1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how our Google Workspace Add-on, USPTO Quick Links (the “Add-on”), interacts with your data when you use it within your Gmail account.

Our core principle is simple: We do not collect, store, or share your personal data or email content.

2. Google API Services Disclosure (Limited Use Policy)

USPTO Quick Links’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, when you authorize this Add-on:

• We do not store your data: The Add-on scans the text of your active email strictly in-memory to identify USPTO serial and registration numbers. The email text is immediately discarded after the scan.
• We do not share your data: Your email content is never transmitted to our servers, third-party databases, or sold to data brokers.
• We do not use your data for advertising: We will never use the content of your emails or the trademark numbers you search to serve personalized ads.
• We do not train AI: Your data is never used to train generalized or personalized artificial intelligence/machine learning models.

3. Information We Access and How We Use It

To function, the Add-on requires the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.addons.current.message.readonly permission scope.

• What we access: When you open an email and click the Add-on icon, the Add-on temporarily reads the plain text of that specific, active email.
• Why we need it: We use a localized pattern-matching script (Regular Expressions) to find 7-digit and 8-digit numbers that match the format of USPTO registration and serial numbers.
• How it is processed: This scanning process happens entirely in the background during your active session. Once the numbers are identified and displayed as clickable links in your sidebar, the email text is cleared from the Add-on’s memory.

4. Data Storage and Security

Because the Add-on does not transmit your email data to any external servers or databases, there is no data retention. All processing is handled locally within the secure Google Apps Script environment attached to your Google Workspace account. We maintain no user accounts, passwords, or databases of our users’ search histories.

5. Third-Party Links

The sole purpose of this Add-on is to generate direct hyperlinks to the official United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Trademark Status & Document Retrieval (TSDR) system. When you click these links, you will be directed to tsdr.uspto.gov. We are not affiliated with the USPTO, and your use of their website is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms of service.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Effective Date.”
